“Sweata Weatha” has finally arrived and I. Am. Here. For it. How pumped are you that Fall is here? Not only do we get to wear snazzy boots, cozy sweaters and scarves, but it’s also one of my favourite times to decorate. The colours, the textures, the crafty things you can do inside and out! Fall is LIFE. My hair likes it too. It’s not partial to humidity! Can I get an AMEN from my curly haired peeps?

As we make way for PSL Season, we start to think about Fall home décor.  There is no shortage of ideas for decorating for this season but, I’ve highlighted some of the very best fall decorating ideas I have come up with!

So, in my home, I’m stuck somewhere between a modern/refined look and rustic/farm inspired look. I equate this to a midlife crisis, maybe? For Fall, I love the clean look of creams and muted greens, but I also love burnt oranges and mustard colours! I have even added some pinks too because everyone needs a little pink in their life. I like to feel cozy in my home but I also have a flair for the dramatic (ha!).  Let’s begin with table.

My go to store(s) for all things trending is the Winners, Marshalls, Homesense trio of awesomeness. It’s inexpensive and a great place to spend a couple hours combing through all things lovely, while getting a remarkable deal. I have many pieces from these stores from over the years so I just popped in to get a few things to freshen up my table.

I’m going with the modern look for my Thanksgiving table this year with cream, white, pink and gold. I was able to pick up my runner, place mats and napkins for under $60. I certainly am thankful for Homesense! For my centre piece, or as I like to call it, my Piece de Resistance (other than the turkey of course), I have a gorgeous velvet pumpkin and some candle holders to give it some extra height. Simple, yet pretty!

TIP: you don't need to be traditional with your colours for Fall. Relaxed muted tones are always a lovely thing to see and add some unexpected elegance. I’m not saying traditional is a bad thing; I love plaid and everything orange, yellow and green in the Fall! I love stepping out of the box too.  Some of the trending decor for this Fall are:

  •       Copper
  •       Painting Pumpkins with your theme colours (instead of carving);
  •       Pastels and muted or neutral colours; and as always
  •       Gourds, Pumpkins and more Gourds and Pumpkins! White pumpkins are big right now too!

In my home, from my dinning to my living room is very open concept. It’s here in the living room, I can start to incorporate some traditional things. I carried the cream into my living room with a perfect pumpkin patch pillow for our sofa! My middle son, Gabe told me I had to get it because it had five pumpkins on it, just like we have five in our family! So naturally, I listened to him. We also have a rusty orange coloured throw blanket and our favourite travelling stuffed turkey. His name is Drumstick. Check it out below.

A few more little touches are throughout my main floor space. Things such as little clear glass vases filled with pine cones and gourdes and miniature artificial mums in the main floor bathroom. Having just the littlest Fall touches in your main living space can make so much of a difference! And that wraps up the indoors.

Time to move outside!

This year, we may have went a little crazy with the pumpkins. But a wise woman once said, you can never have too many pumpkins! That wise woman was ME! I took the kids out to a pumpkin patch this past weekend and picked up a few for carving and a few for our Fall display on our front porch. If you’re looking for a place to pick some apples and pumpkins and not be there with half the Province, I highly recommend, Willowbank U-Pick. The staff were very helpful down at the patch! They have a hayride, a scary maze for the little ones and a cute little petting zoo! Watch out for the goats though, they head butt! Gary the goat was chill, it’s the little ones that get’cha! Here are some shots of our pumpkin display. I forgot to remove my Tim’s cup from the background, but if you don’t have one hiding in your picture somewhere, are you even Canadian?
