Small businesses around Halifax Regional Municipality are my favourite places to find Christmas gifts. I can always find the most thoughtful, personal gifts, and browsing shops that were lovingly curated and decorated is just so much nicer than stressing amongst the crowds of big box stores. Everyone wins shopping small - you find the most unique, high quality items while supporting your local community!
So as part of #C21AllPointsHomefortheHolidays, we're sharing the small businesses that make our home so special! Every Tuesday and Thursday until Christmas we'll be sharing some of our favourite products from local businesses all over Halifax Regional Municipality, we hope you get some ideas to treat that special someone - or yourself!
Circle & Wick Candle Co.
When I was first gifted a Circle & Wick Candle I hadn't lit a candle in my home in years. Although I loved watching the flickering flames and sweet aromas, scented candles started making me break out in hives, so I just gave up on candles entirely. Little did I know that Circle & Wick Candles would come along with all the answers! Their candles not only smell amazing, but are made of 100% soy wax, scented with phthalate-free oils, and their wicks are lead and zinc free! They just released their Winter Collection, but there's a ton of scents to choose from! I also have to note that I love my gold Circle & Wick wick trimmer, it's a great gift for any candle lover! Order online from circleandwick.com (free delivery in HRM!) or purchase in-person from one of their many stockists around the province.
Design Corner Coasters
Who doesn't love Schitt's Creek? I sure do, so much so that back when it aired weekly on CBC I'd write it in my planner every Tuesday because I was so excited for the next new episode. So I immediately loved these two Schitt's Creek coasters when I came across them, along with tons of other hand-illustrated cards, magnets, calendars and more at Design Corner's booth at the Dartmouth Handcrafter's Guild Annual Christmas Craft Show last year. Everything is hand-illustrated, and they offer lots of designs from Star Wars to the Golden Girls to cats and dogs! Browse their shop at DesignCornerShop.ca or find them at their retail partners.
Duly Noted Trinket Tray
Duly Noted is one of my favourite shops here in Halifax! From journals to wall art to Swedish dish cloths, everything I've bought there (all either pink, has cats on it, or is pink with cats on it...) brightens my home and reminds me of how much I love browsing this beautifully laid out shop. Browse their shop online at dulynoted.ca or visit the shop at 5431 Doyle Street in Downtown Halifax.
Rose Valade Collection Wool Dryer Balls
Reusable wool dryer balls do everything that a single-use dryer sheet can do and more! I got my set from Rose Valade Collection, a local business offering one-of-a-kind jewelry designed by Rose Valade along with a collection of carefully curated clothing and products. Made of 100% natural sheep's wool, these dryer balls reduce drying time, naturally soften clothing and eliminate static! If you know someone still using single use dryer sheets, this is the gift that'll keep on giving.
We hope this sparks some ideas for your gift list this year! What would you add to this gift guide? Share in the comments below!Team Support on
