March Break is almost here in Halifax! It's one of the best times of the school year for kids, and one of the most stressful for parents! A week is a long time to keep the kids occupied, but luckily there's lots of great options (that won't break the bank!) all around Halifax Regional Municipality! Keep reading for fun activities and things to do in HRM that'll keep the kids entertained all week long!
Free Halifax-Alderney Ferry Service
Explore both Downtown Halifax and Downtown Dartmouth this March Break! From March 13th to 18th, the Alderney-Halifax ferry will be free between 11am and 2pm.
Craft at the Lou Duggan Creative Studio
Spend an afternoon crafting with free state-of-the art equipment at Halifax Central Library's Lou Duggan Creative Studio. The Studio has everything they'll need from 3D Printing to jewellery making to Cricut supplies to crochet and cross stitch, let the kid's imaginations run wild!
The Studio will also be offering a number of programs for all ages and interests over the Break.
Halifax Public Libraries Activities
There's always something for the kids to do at your local library! Sign them up for a paint class, take the whole family out for a free movie screening, play giant board games, watch a family-friendly live performance and much more! View the full schedule of events here.
Discover the Wonders of the Body at Body Worlds Vital
Viewed by 42 million people around the world, Body Worlds Vital at the Museum of Natural History is an exhibition you won't want to miss! Indulge in Carb-tastic Cuisines of the World at Pier 21
The Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21 is already has so much to offer as it is, but this March Break they'll also be offering special daily programming where you can discover cuisines of the world! Every day of March Break, the museum will be featuring a different cuisine from a different culture around the world. You'll be able to make your own dishes to eat and take home along with the recipe for future use! See the full schedule at Pier21.ca.
Play with Dinosaurs at the Discovery Centre
The kids will love controlling massive dinosaurs and learning all about the prehistoric creatures at the Discovery Centre's featured exhibit, Dinosaurs in Motion. Then there's lots more to explore throughout the rest of the centre and new films to enjoy at the Dome Theatre!

Explore the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic
Learn about our rich Maritime History, spot a minature Theodor Tugboat, say hello to the museum's parrot, and lots more at the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic! The museum's galleries and exhibit spaces have also just updated this past February. Plan your visit here.
Halifax Shopping Centre Activities
Halifax Shopping Centre has fun and exciting activities planned every weekday of March Break! Mad Science on Monday, design a shingle for the Maud Lewis Painted House on Tuesday, join in on a Lego workshop on Wednesday, Thursday's for arcade games and popsicles, and snap a pic with the kids' favourite superhero on Friday! All events will take place under the skylight on Level 3 of the shopping centre. Some events require registration beforehand, find all the details here.
March Break at Mic Mac Mall
There's lots of March Break fun planned at Mic Mac Mall as well! Take the kids to meet RoboRex, join Decathlon for fun activities, enter giveaways, get their face painted for free and more! Activities will all take place on Level 3 next to the Food Court from 11am to 3pm March 13th to 16th.
Go On A Mural Hunt
