Victoria Day weekend; May Two-Four; the unofficial start of summer; whatever you like to call it, May's long weekend is one long-awaited by many. Campgrounds open for the season, cottages are reopened, and sunny days are ahead (hopefully!). Keep reading for a list of things to do in and around Halifax during this year's May long weekend:
Catch a Halifax Wanderers Match
The Halifax Wanderers are playing at their home field in Halifax on May 20th. Have few beers, join in on the fan fare, and watch some good soccer on the Wanderers Grounds. Get your tickets here.
Bluenose Race Weekend
As always, the Bluenose Race Weekend will take place in Downtown Halifax over Victoria Day weekend. Walk, run, or Nordic walk in your choice of six different running events or join the crowd cheering on racers from the sidelines! Register for your race here.
If you don't plan to participate in the race, note that there will be street closures and parking bans in Downtown Halifax and in Dartmouth near the MacDonald bridge over the weekend.
Hop Aboard the Harbour Hopper
The 2022 Harbour Hopper tour season begins May 21st. Tour Halifax from 10ft above the ground and learn more of the city's history on Halifax's favourite amphibious tour. Purchase tickets in person at their kiosk on the Halifax waterfront or online here.
Dance the Night Away at Desi Bash
Dance the night away on the Halifax Waterfront at Desi Bash by Utsav Halifax. Their last waterfront dance party celebrating Baisakhi was a huge success, with Haligonians flocking to the harbourwalk for a night of dancing and celebration by the water.
Visit the Daffodil Garden for Cancer Survivors
Explore the sea of yellow at the Daffodil Garden for Cancer Survivors in Downtown Dartmouth. In its second year of bloom since the ribbon cutting in 2020, the garden serves as a special place for all those touched by cancer. Find the park at Ferry Terminal Park in Downtown Dartmouth.
Asian Food Week
Halifax's Asian Food Week is May 16th-22nd. Indulge in Asian cuisine with specially priced food and beverages at participating restaurants all over Halifax Regional Municipality.
