Clayton Park was originally developed as a suburban alternative to the downtown core in the 1960's. The Clayton Park West addition was added in the 1990's. Between the two very close areas, they are home to a combination of detached single family homes, multi-family dwellings, upscale condominiums and lots of apartments. They range from more established homes to brand new luxury homes. Clayton Park and Clayton Park West can easily be considered one of the most diverse areas of Halifax. It spans from Glenforest Drive to Lacewood (between Fairview and Rockingham). The diversity is what keeps this neighbourhood a growing suburban area.
There is shopping close by in all directions including Bayers Lake Business Park witch houses everything you need from groceries to electronics and everything in between. There are several walk-in clinics located in this area as well as a library. The commute to the downtown core is a breeze with this neighbourhood's proximity to the 102 HWY.
Love to play where you live? Well then Clayton Park is the ideal place for you! You have plenty of greenspace, lots of playgrounds and the popular Canada Games Centre right in the middle of it all. Baseball diamonds, basketball courts, and soccer fields adorn the neighbourhood throughout. There are plenty of schools in the area that all feed into Halifax West High School. This high school is the most diverse in the city and is home to over 1500 students and the Halifax Warriors!
