Downtown Halifax

Flanked by North and South Halifax, downtown Halifax is small and lively and due to its proximity to these areas has the access to all of the amenities north and south have to offer. Downtown is home to the Neptune theatre that has numerous productions throughout the year, Scotiabank Centre, the Central Library and towering above it all is the Halifax Citadel. Take a look at the spectacular architecture of one of the oldest churches in the country, St. Paul’s Church est. in 1750 or head down the hill from the Citadel to view the beautiful St. Mary’s Basilica est. in 1899. The area boasts some registered heritage homes, single family turn of the century housing along with multi unit, townhouse and a very strong influx of high and low rise luxury apartment condos for those that would like to live in the heart of it all. The area has access to every type of transportation imaginable from bussing, ferries and water taxis also the occasional horse drawn trolley can be seen in and around the downtown core. By far if you are visiting or living in the area the best way to experience is is by walking. So many things to see and do stop by a corner pub for a pint and a bite or take a stroll down the Harbourwalk and take a seat and watch the boats passing by. The views are spectacular.
