MLS® # 202103046
Hammonds Plains history has its roots buried in the exodus of the African slaves that escaped the Wars in the United States. Between 1813 and 1816, two thousand slaves boarded both naval and privately chartered vessels commissioned by the British some to make Nova Scotia their new home. Land grants were hard to come by for the new refugees as United Empire Loyalists had already been given many acres of land. Hammonds Plains was known for its lumbering industry however it was and still is a county village at heart. Today the area boasts some beautiful biking trails from beginner to intermediate skill levels. It is a 35 minute drive to the majestic Peggy’s Cove and many Strip malls dot Hammonds Plains road which stretches east to highway 2 Bedford Exchange and west at its end at highway 3 in Upper Tantallon. It has its own medical clinic and many public schools with both French and English programming. If golfing is your thing there is the 5 star, champion Glen Arbour golf course waiting for you to experience. The area is made up of single family dwellings with plenty of privacy if you so desire and you can be in Halifax or Dartmouth within half an hour by car or by bus in just over an hour depending on your location. Hammonds Plains still boast that small town community feel with many of the big city amenities.
