The Beechville Lakeside Timberlea (BLT) area is the fastest growing community in the Province of Nova Scotia. If you’re looking for a real sense of community, this is the place for you! Welcome to Beechville, Lakeside, Timberlea, or what residents lovingly call, BLT!

The businesses in this area have played integral parts in keeping the community together in every way possible. That close-knit feeling you have as a resident of the BLT area is definitely missed by those that have moved on to other places in Nova Scotia and around the world.

As you drive through “Downtown Timberlea” you are sure to see someone you know. You can find the perfect home cooked meal at D & Jo’s Country Market or Value Convenience and afterwards you can get your teeth cleaned at the always gentle and caring Timberlea Dental.

If you’re looking to treat yourself to an evening out with some delicious home cooked food, there are three sit down restaurants nearby! There are medical facilities, a new Veterinary Clinic, public transportation and several daycare centres in the area. The BLT area might even be in the running for the pizza capital of Nova Scotia (ha) – there are lots of places to choose from for your Friday night pizza fix!  A newly built Sobeys has been a great addition to this growing community.  Soon, a brand-new community centre will be built to replace the current one located in Beechville. The schools in this area are said to be some of the best in the HRM.

BLT is also home to the BLT Rails to Trails which is the old Inter Colonial Railway track that was converted to a trail spanning from Beechville all the way to Hubley (13kms) in 2007. A group of locals formed a board to help take care of this trail and this trail is held in high regard throughout BLT. You can also take this trail to Cranberry Lake which is a popular swimming spot for the locals. The BLT Trail then connects to a similar trail with another 32 kilometre stretch toward Upper Tantallon and beyond. The BLT Rails to Trails also connects to the Bluff Trail, a 30 kilometre network of non-motorized wilderness trails. So many trails to be explored! If you love the outdoors, this is the place for you.

Most of the housing in this area was built prior to 1970 with several new developments popping up along the St Margaret’s Bay Road. The BLT area is now home to an award-winning golf course, Brunello, along with a new housing development, Brunello Estates, growing around it. With luxury single family and townhomes, this is one of the newest areas in Timberlea. Further down the road closer to the border of Timberlea and Hubley, there is another new development with high end construction called the Golden Eye subdivision. The property prices in this area are very affordable. Home styles are typically single family homes with lots of semi-detached properties. Buying a home in Timberlea is sure to be easy with the abundance of new and old affordable houses for sale.
