The Timberlea Community
Local businesses in the area are a key part in keeping this community as close-knit and friendly as ever. There are restaurants, medical facilities, public transportation and several daycare centres in the area. A large grocery chain has plans to move in over the next few years as well as a brand new community centre that will be built in the next 5-10 years. Big things are happening here. The schools in this area are said to be some of the best in the HRM.
Timberlea is also home to the BLT Rails to Trails, an old railroad track was converted to a trail spanning from the nearby Beechville all the way to Hubley (13kms) in 2007. You can also take this trail to Cranberry Lake which is a popular swimming spot for the locals. The BLT Trail then connects to a similar trail with another 32 kilometre stretch toward Upper Tantallon and beyond. The BLT Rails to Trails also connects to the Bluff Trail, a 30 kilometre network of non-motorized wilderness trails. So many trails to be explored! If you love the outdoors, this is the place for you.
Most of the housing in this area was built prior to 1970 with several new developments popping up along the St Margarets Bay Road. This area is now home to an award-winning golf course, Brunello, along with anew housing development, Brunello Estates, growing around it. With luxury single family and townhomes, this is one of the newest areas in Timberlea. Further down the road close to Hubley, there is another new development with high end construction called the Golden Eye subdivision. The property prices in this area are very affordable. Home styles are typically single family homes with lots of semi-detached properties. Buying a home in Timberlea is sure to be easy with the abundance of new and old affordable houses for sale.
