It was effortless working with Century 21. As well as being an agent, David was a coach. His focus was clearly on what was best for us, not what was best for him or his connections. He gave honest and impartial views and information, space to make our own decisions and avoided salesmanship. He was in no rush to sell us something. It is clear he values a long term relationship over short term gain or convenience.

As an out of province landlord with a condo in Halifax I no longer felt like renting, I had spoken to David a few times over the years about selling. Every once in a while I bothered him and asked him how the market was doing and for truthful assessments of my property value in the current market. You and I did the searching while my wife stayed home in the GTA with my son. Because of how thorough you were, how you understood what we were looking for, and what you showed me, I was able to tell my wife with confidence we had a great agent and that there was no need to waste her time coming out. For the first time n my life my wife trusted me with a major decision like this! Ha! She had not seen the home and loved it when she did!
The selection Process you took me through was perfect for the way I operate as I am a detailed person. You walked away from 2 homes we viewed almost the moment we walked in the door, even before I expressed my thoughts. This tells me you took the time to personalize what we were looking for, you did not want a quick sale and were not hiding anything, but rather you operated with full disclosure and wanted us to be happy when all was said and done.
You covered my butt in this experience. At your suggestion you asked your wife to come out and view the home since my wife had not seen it in person. When viewing the home you and your wife found a countertop in the master bathroom which did not match the other finishings. You negotiated its replacement and quite frankly likely saved me from having to have it replaced, at my expense after close. This was going above and beyond.

We have been clients of David Yetman at Century 21 for approximately 2 years. You might think that is a rather long stretch but our situation was somewhat unique. We were living in Hong Kong and we were trying to decide where to retire. When we decided to move to Halifax we began a web search for an agent. I combed through several agencies and multiple profiles until we read about David from his other clients. I reached out to a few agents and their response--give our timeline--was lukewarm. This wasn't the case with David. We made initial contact with David via email in early 2016. We explained that our intended return date was not going to be until June, 2018. Despite this, he did not tell us to 'go away' and come back when the time was closer. He understood that we needed to learn a lot about Halifax. While I had been a student in Nova Scotia in the early 1980s we did NOT really know Halifax at all. We also had no idea about what neighbourhood we wanted, we did not even know if we wanted a condo or a house. We thought a condo would suit our lifestyle but basically we were starting from complete scratch. During this time David was unfailingly patient. He provided us with resources to learn about Halifax and the surrounding area. He answered our HUNDREDS of questions quickly and when there were sometimes no answers to be given he was honest about that too, encouraging us to be patient and let the process work. Despite a major time difference David would Facetime with us to answer questions and give us all of the answers about the process as quickly as he possibly could. Or, sometimes he would just encourage us to be patient!
In the summer of 2017, we came for an initial 'look around'. His team were aware that we were really just trying to sort some basic things out like: where in the Halifax area should we live? What kind of house/condo did we want to live in? etc. During that week we managed to learn that we wanted a house. We managed to learn that we did not want to live too far away from amenities such as shopping and entertainment. While we did not buy our house then we did manage to learn a lot and it helped us tremendously. They did not give us any pressure whatsoever. We never felt like we had to rush into anything. We did 'ramp up' our search considerably over the 2017-2018 years and finally in March of 2018 we came to Halifax to seriously look to buy. Again, David was patient, beyond helpful and very honest with us in terms of asking the right questions to help us to make a good choice. We found a house we both liked and we made an offer on it which was accepted very quickly. We moved in the end of July and, so far, we absolutely LOVE our house and our new neighbourhood is perfect for us. On closing, David and Sandra (his wife) gave us a 'survival kit' which was incredibly helpful as it contained all the things you never think of...a really nice touch. While it was a long process, it ended well!
Now, you know our context here is why we recommend David Yetman as your agent:
1.) He has been nothing but completely transparent/honest with us the entire time. We committed to him as our agent and never once considered going elsewhere. Never questioned or doubted his expertise.
2.) Timely: every question we have had was answered quickly and with enough detail. Every request for information about the process was responded to quickly and accurately.
3.) He thinks of things we did not think about. For example, in our process of sorting where to live he pointed out the advantages and disadvantages of each area. He helped us consider the type of house we would want and acknowledged our preferences for things given our age/stage of life.
4.) He helped us set up things for utilities etc. these were things we would have missed or not known about as people who had never lived in Nova Scotia before.
5.) He is very supportive of the fact that we took--basically--two years to actually buy a house...did we mention patience? There was NEVER any pressure to buy. We took a LONG time.
6.) He respected our choices but he would also point out things that we may not have considered.
7.) His 'surround' support is outstanding: things like his team of people working to support buyers and his website for resources such as lawyers, locksmiths, window people etc.
8.) During the process of purchasing the house David recommended the specific inspections we should complete as part of our offer to purchase.
9.) During the entire process David NEVER showed any sort of bias or place any influence on us for choosing a style of house/area etc. He DID provide factual information to help us along.

I have retained Mr. Yetman’s services 4 times since 1998 and have been very satisfied with the service and results that he provided. I returned to Halifax in 2015 and David once again helped me find a perfect home. I was going through a personal life transition and David was available anytime to answer question after question, always polite, always patient and always available. "We first contacted David Yetman when we were in the UK and thinking about moving to Halifax, Nova Scotia. We found him extremely helpful and knowledgable and we agreed to meet him when we visited in the summer of 2015 for a tour of the City and surrounding area. David was unaware (and might still be) that we also agreed to do a similar thing with two other realtors (as being new to Canada we wanted to be sure we were receiving accurate information).
David provided us with an excellent tour and showed us several very different properties which really got us thinking. David was by far the best of the three Realtors we spoke to and he kept in contact with us regularly after we returned to the UK (but not too regularly to be a nuisance). David seemed to genuinely care that we made the right choices for the right reasons as opposed to the other two realtors who were just looking for business and to make a sale. We decided that when we moved to Halifax we would use David to help us find a property to buy.
At first we rented a property just outside Halifax and even though we had a lease for 14 months, David was prepared to show us around properties for sale straight away so we could get a feel for the market and answer our general enquiries about properties, the buying process and other general queries about the area. We must have looked at about 25 properties with David before we were even in position to buy a property. This was very useful as it helped us refine what we wanted (which had changed since we moved to Canada). David also pointed out various issues and problems with properties we looked at which were not obvious and we wouldn't have known about, and David informed us of likely costs to remedy problems which helped greatly when it came to choosing a property.
When we were finally in position to buy a property, David was excellent at negotiating and sorting out all the parts of the buying process. He handled all communications with the vendor, solicitors, property inspectors and our bank and generally made life easy for us. It was a far easier process than buying a property in the UK (even though a lot of the process was quite alien to us).
Even though we have now bought our property and are very happy with it, David continues to stay in contact and check that we are happy.
I would highly recommend David Yetman to any prospective property buyer, and especially to someone coming from overseas who is not familiar with the system in Canada. He has a wealth of experience and knowledge as a RE4ALTOR® and knows just about everything there is about properties in Halifax and the surrounding area.

We knew at some point we would revisit the idea of purchasing, when our son was ready to graduate high school. And so, we contacted David again earlier this summer. He remembered us immediately ,which was reassuring, and then quickly got us set up online. We had some viewings, and each time there wasn't any pressure. We always felt David was advocating for us, and that he would answer our questions honestly. We finally settled on a condo, which was one David had found for us, and the days that followed went smoothly. After a series of unforeseeable events it was time to sell the house I had grown up in and the house that my parents had built. In early April, I met with Century 21 REALTOR, David Yetman while researching how I, as Power of Attorney, would go about selling the family home belonging to my 91 year old mother, who had recently moved to a long term care facility. Until my sister & I met with David, I was not convinced that a full service real estate agent was the best option for the sale of the house. David presented his marketing plan for this older home, in need of extensive renovations.
