About Downtown Halifax

Downtown is home to Neptune Theatre, which puts on numerous productions throughout the year, Scotiabank Centre, the Halifax Central Library and towering above it all is the Halifax Citadel. 

Take a look at the spectacular architecture of one of the oldest churches in the country, St. Paul’s Church est. in 1750 or head down the hill from the Citadel to view the beautiful St. Mary’s Basilica est. in 1899.

The area has access to every type of transportation imaginable from bussing, ferries and water taxis also the occasional horse drawn trolley can be seen in and around the downtown core.

By far if you are visiting or living in the area the best way to experience is is by walking. So many things to see and do, stop by a corner pub for a pint and a bite or take a stroll down the Halifax Waterfront boardwalk, take a seat and watch the boats passing by. The views are spectacular.
