Who doesn't love breakfast for dinner?

Pancakes have always been one of my favourite foods, so naturally any day dedicated to having them for dinner is also my favourite!

Growing up Catholic I knew it as Shrove Tuesday, but you may know it by one of its other names: Fat Tuesday, Mardis Gras, or simply, Pancake Day. It falls on the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday, which is the first day of Lent, a period of fasting and abstinence that lasts for 40 days and ends with Easter. In cultures where it is called Mardis Gras or Fat Tuesday it marks the final day of Carnival and your last day of "fat eating" before Lent. Nova Scotia's Heritage Day – 2020 – Africville

 

The third Monday of February each year brings us our Provincial Heritage Day. This day is our annual reminder to bring people together to honour the remarkable people, events and places in Nova Scotia’s History. This year’s Heritage Day recognizes Africville. This day also happens to fall on the 10th Anniversary of the apology to Africville. Africville holds great significance to our African Nova Scotian Community.

This day will bring light to the tragic story of displacement of and discrimination against the people of Africville. It will also bring light to the incredible sense of community, pride and heritage that the former residents of Africville still share to this day.  This pride and…
