This holiday season make memories or start a new family tradition by joining your community for some festive fun at one of the many Christmas Tree Lightings happening all over HRM! There are no shortage of celebrations so we've made a list so you can find one, or a few, near you!
Bishop’s Landing
Where: 1475 Lower Water St, Halifax
When: November 22 at 6pm
The Halifax waterfront tree will light up at 6pm with special guests, The Big Sing, who will lead the crowd in a holiday sing-along!
Grand Parade
Where: 1770 Barrington St, Halifax
When: November 23 at 6pm
If you decide to venture downtown for the tree lighting at the Grand Parade you will not be disappointed! There’s something for everyone, including: fireworks, Bob the Builder love show, special guests PAW Patrol Marshall & Skye, live performance by Donair Supply, and SANTA!!
Sackville
Where: 650 Sackville Drive
When: November 29 at 6:30
The 12th Annual Sackville Christmas Tree Lighting is happening at Acadia Park and will have live entertainment, treats, and a visit from Santa! There will also be holiday songs and stories inside the Sackville Public Library before the Tree Lighting begins
Cole Harbour
Where: 1150 Cole Harbour Road
When: December 1 at 4:30pm
The Cole Harbour Fire Station will be hosting the Tree Lighting and will have live entertainment, hot chocolate, and Santa! Cole Harbour-Westphal Firefighters Association will also be accepting non-perishable food donations for their Hamper Drive.
Eastern Passage
Where: Heritage Centre / Quigley’s Corner
When: December 1 at 3:30pm
Starting at Heritage Centre, carolling begins at 3:30 around Fisherman’s Cove ending at Quigley’s Corner for the Christmas Tree Lighting! There will be hot chocolate, cookies, and a visit from Santa!
East Dover
Where: 15 Leary’s Cove Road, East Dover
When: December 1 at 4pm
The 3rd Annual Children’s Christmas Tree Lighting will be happening at the East Dover Community Hall with lots of activities for everyone, including: cookie decorating, games, crafts, music and a holiday photo booth!
Hydrostone
Where: 5547 Young St, Halifax
When: December 6 at 6:30pm
At the annual tree lighting in Hydrostone Park, in support of Vieth House, you can enjoy hot beverages, cookies, a raffle, live entertainment and a visit from Santa. Consider donating to Veith House while you’re there, their wish list includes bus tickets, non-perishable food items, toiletries, gift cards and financial donations.
Dartmouth
Where: 2 Ochterloney St, Dartmouth
When: December 7 at 4:30
The Dartmouth Tree Lighting has moved from Sullivans Pond to Alderney Landing Events Plaza this year. While you’re there you’ll be able to enjoy hot chocolate & cookies, Mike Cowie Christmas Show, and a visit from Santa. The Tree Lighting will be at 5:50pm with fireworks immediately following at 6pm!
Hammonds Plains
Where: 2041 Hammonds Plains Road
When: December 8 at 3pm
The 4th Annual Christmas Tree Lighting will be at the Hammonds Plains Community Centre where hot chocolate, cookies, and candy canes will be served. Bring a cash or non-perishable food donation for Feed NS and write your name on a star to hang on the Christmas tree!
Shubie Park
Where: 54 Locks Road, Dartmouth
When: December 8 at 4pm
At the Shubie Park Tree Lighting you’ll be treated to live music, hot drinks & treats, a bonfire for roasting marshmallows, and fireworks as well as some surprise guests!
Spryfield
Where: Corner of Herring Cove Rd & Williams Lake Rd
When: December 11 at 6pm
The Spryfield Christmas Carolling and Tree Lighting Event takes place in the pocket park at the corner or Herring Cove Rd & Williams Lake Rd, across from St Michael’s Church. Sterling Stevens and Friends will lead Christmas carols to be followed by treats and hot chocolate!
