It's ALMOST the most wonderful time of the year!

With the holidays quickly approaching, we want to encourage supporting and shopping local this year. Whether it's for decor, gifts, or yummy treats, HRM Holiday Markets have you covered! With a market happening almost every weekend until the first week of December you're sure to find tons of items from your list while supporting members of your community. 

We've put together a list of our favourite winter craft shows to help you stay on top of your shopping list and support local!

Kicking off the season is a classic, Christmas at the Forum

Christmas at the Forum is the longest running craft show in Atlantic Canada with over 325 exhibitors from across the country it's no wonder it's the largest and best attended show of its kind in Eastern Canada. Spanning three days and three huge buildings in the Forum Complex you'll find food, art, crafts, antiques, and more for the whole family. You'll want to plan for a few hours if you're hoping to see everything offered and prepare for crowds, 25,000 people attend each year! To map out your day you can view a list of vendors and a flood plan. You'll find Christmas at the Forum on Windsor St in Halifax

Christmas at the Forum runs from November 1-3 (Friday & Saturday 10am-9pm, Sunday 10am-5pm)

Admission is $9 for adults, $8 for seniors, and free for kids under 12

 While you're visiting the Seaport Market the weekend of the 15th stop by the Cunard Centre for The Craft Nova Scotia Designer Craft Show. The Designer Craft Show features works by Nova Scotian and Atlantic Canadian artisans who are juried members of Craft Nova Scotia. Here, you'll be able to find things made by fibre artists, wood workers, printmakers, metal workers, glass artists, and more! 

The Designer Craft Show runs from November 15-17 (Friday 10am-9pm, Saturday 9am-5pm & Sunday 10am-5pm)

Admission is $7 for adults, $6 for students & seniors, free for kids under 12

The following weekend is sure to be a busy one with two amazing shows taking place!

Dalplex Christmas Craft Market has been operating for over thirty years and has vendors from all over the Atlantic region exhibiting handcrafted pottery & jewelry, art, woodwork, toys, treats, and more. This show is not to be missed so head on over to Dalhousie campus and check out the amazing one-of-a-kind gifts!

Dalplex Christmas Craft Market runs from November 22-24 (Friday 12pm-9pm, Saturday 9:30am-6pm & Sunday 10am-5pm)

General admission is $5 and kids under 12 are free!

Also happening this weekend is the newest to the HRM Craft Markets, Dartmouth Makers! Though it only started in 2014 it's built a great reputation for supporting up and coming artists and local vendors. It's hosted by a non-profit, volunteer driven society of artists and craftspeople doing fantastic work to make a vibrant Downtown Dartmouth arts community. You'll find this market at the Christ Church Parish Hall at 61 Dundas St in Downtown Dartmouth.

Dartmouth Makers runs from November 22-23 (Friday 5pm-9pm & Saturday 9am-5pm)

Admission is free!

Rounding out the season is Halifax Crafters! Similar to Dartmouth Makers, this is a non-profit, volunteer based organization aimed at fostering emerging and local artists and craftspeople. All applicants are juried to ensure a unique and engaging market where established and emerging crafters show their work side by side allowing for tons of diversity and a super welcoming environment. You'll find this market at Halifax's Olympic Hall Community Centre at 2304 Hunter St.

Halifax Crafters runs from November 29 - December 1 (Friday 5pm-9pm, Saturday & Sunday 10am-5pm)

Nothing beats buying directly from makers and knowing that you're doing your part to support local and getting some amazing and unique items to share with friends and family!
