Halifax Citadel National Historic Site

Step back in time at this historic site with free admission all day. Watch the ceremonial noon gun, a 21-gun salute, explore museum exhibits—and grab a slice of Canada Day cake!

Bring a lawn chair and enjoy a free community concert with the Dartmouth Concert Band in a beautiful outdoor setting.

Middleton Canada Day Festival

Start with the morning parade (11 am) and stick around for live music, games, food, and a strawberry shortcake bake-off at the Macdonald Museum.

Fort Anne & Port-Royal (Annapolis Royal)

Join in flag-raising ceremonies, live music, and cake at these historic Parks Canada sites—free fun for the whole family.

Centerville Park Fun Run and Ice Cream Bar

Canada Day Ice Cream Fun Run/Walk enjoy a Casual walk or Run 1.1 km 3.3 km or 5.5 km and enjoy an Ice Cream Bar at the finish. No Cost to join the fun run/walk. Ice Cream is free. This is a great community event. 

End your day with the Canada Day Fireworks over Halifax Harbour starting around 10 pm—visible from both sides of the water. Bring a blanket, grab your favourite snack, and enjoy a stunning display that caps off a day full of celebration.
