Is it Just me, or is this the weekend everyone has been waiting for all winter?!

With the weather getting warmer everyone is coming out of hibernation. Many camp grounds starting to open up for the upcoming season, people are heading to their cottages and campers to get them opened and cleaned up after the long winter months.  Lots of people start their gardening and post winter yard work.  They are pulling out their lawn furniture, some people even start filling their pools. May long weekend is that pivotal time everyone is waiting for. It’s our first Glimpse of summer, a sign its only just around the corner.

East Coast Cider Festival

26 Cidermakers from around the Maritime’s come together to over a 3 hour sampling event and share with you their unique flavors. Included in the cost of your ticket purchase is 12 (4oz) cider samples, redeemable food token ($10 Value) and a take-home souvenir glass. Spring on the Farm: Shop, Tour and Dine
Where : Lindsay Lake Farm, 211 Lindsay Lake Road, Lindsay Lake
When : May 17-18 11:00 am-5:00 pm
Cost : Free to Attend - additional Purchases can be made on site.

Enjoy a day on the farm, shop from local vendors, farm-to-table food and drinks at their food trailer and you can even go on a bison tour and have an opportunity to see them up close. This sounds like a fun day for the whole family. You can find all the details about the event here

ByBlack Restaurants week is a semi-annual national food festival where Black-owned Canadian restaurants, Caterers, pop-up restaurants and food Trucks offer a special menu. Explore different flavours and cuisine from different cultures and countries. It all sounds delicious. Find all of the Details here.
Bluenose Marathon and Vendor Expo
Where : Racing Starts Saturday morning at 8:00 am at the Emera Oval,
Vendor Expo Friday, May 16, 10:00 am-8:00 pm,
Saturday, May 17, 10:00 am-4:00 pm at Zatzman Sportplex

The Bluenose always brings a lot of excitement to our city with many racers across the country and world descending on our city to take on the hilly terrain of Halifax and Dartmouth. The Bluenose offers a variety of races from full and half marathons to the 5km and 10km, to their youth running series 4km and 2km races.
This year they are offering a Vendor Expo at the Zatzman Sportplex in Dartmouth with all sorts of vendors, if you are participating in the race you can check it out when you pick up your race kit. If racing isn’t your cup of tea you can come out and cheer on the racers along their route. Click here for more details.
South Mountain Goat Walk
Where : Tipsy Toad Grove Farm - 579 Messenger Road, Kingston

Explore a sustainable working farm while walking a goat. This guided tour give the opportunity to walk through the fields and forest of Tipsy Toad Grove Farm while being lead by goats and their owners Sue and Troy. This experience gives you the opportunity to meet many other farm animals. The goats love photo bomb selfies. Sounds like a bucket list experience to check out. HOLI : The Color Carnival-Celebrating Asian Heritage
Where : Kentville Center Square
When : Sunday May 18, 11:00 am - 4:00 pm,
Cost : FREE

This event is in celebration of HOLI: The Color Carnival, a special event celebrating Asian Heritage Month and the Joyous festival of colors. Holi is known as a Festival of Colors however it is more then just a celebration of colors it’s about making new connections and forgiving grudges. It’s about Celebrating unity. This event includes Color throws, live music and dancing, Asian Food and beverages, and cultural arts and exhibits. Definitely sounds like a wonderful community event.
