This collaboration has produced a more inclusive event, honouring the culture and traditions of the Indigenous Peoples, the first people to take care of the land we now call Canada.

This year there are so many great concerts, family-friendly events, and experiences planned for the Canada Day long weekend. Keep reading so you don't miss a thing!

After two long years, St. Patrick’s Day is back in Halifax! Covid-19 had forced bars to close and parade-goers to stay home rather than the usual green beer infused festivities.

This year though, all the classic St. Patrick’s Day hot spots have gotten the go-ahead to celebrate the patron Saint of Ireland this March 17th. Irish Haligonians (and those who wish they were Irish) may finally indulge properly in the food, beverage & music of the Irish culture.

Everyone’s ready to get in on the action, so we’ve gathered a list of all the St. Patrick’s Day celebrations happening in Halifax this year.

March Break in my grade school years was awesome. All week my mom would keep us busy with baking days, board games, crafting and whatever else she could come up with. The pinnacle of our March Break was the Halifax Day trip. We’d take a MetroTransit bus then hop on the ferry, explore the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia, Pier 21 or the Discovery Centre and top the day off with a paper bag of goodies from Freak Lunch Box. The March Breaks of my childhood are now some of my best memories!

Creating memories for your kids to treasure forever is the always the goal, but it’s often tricky to come up with unique, engaging experiences - that don’t break the bank. Here are our best ideas to create fun filled memories this March Break.

March Break. It is what it is …. a break! A week for our kids (and their ahh-maa-zing teachers) to have a well-deserved break from all the learning (teaching) they have been doing. A time to refuel, a time to leave the go-go-go mentality behind. This year, as the same as most years, we will be staying home in good ol’ Nova Scotia! Mainly because I would prefer my kids get some sort of gastro bug in the comfort of our home rather than in a tropical environment where it might take 10 minutes to get back to our room to use the bathroom!

This year, I’ve put a lot of thought into what a great March break would look like for my family and I’ve come up with a fun-filled week that I hope you might be able to take advantage of as well! We aren’t going too…
