Halloween Movie Party & Spooktacular Fireworks
October 22nd, 7pm | The Village Shops at Dartmouth Crossing | Free
The Village Shops at Dartmouth Crossing is throwing a Halloween Movie Party at the Pondside Amphitheatre! Spooky family favourite Hotel Transylvania will be shown followed by a "spooktacular" fireworks display at 9pm. Get out your costume and bring chairs and warm blankets, free popcorn and a treat will be provided (while supplies last). Admission is free and Feed Nova Scotia will be accepting food donations.
The Terror Shop: Halloween Film Screening
October 27th, 7pm-11pm | The Tare shop Dartmouth | FREE
This year for Halloween, the Tare Shop in Downtown Dartmouth is transforming into The Terror Shop featuring free screenings of two spooky movies! Family-friendly classic Scooby-Doo (2002) will be screened at 7:30pm, followed by Scream (1996) at 9pm. Snacks and drinks will be available for purchase. Seating is limited, so register online before you go!
Enjoy Safe Halloween at Historic Properties

Celebrate Halloween with the whole family at Historic Properties in Downtown Halifax! There'll be lots of free spooky activities like trick or treating, face painting, pumpkin carving and Halloween games as part of Historic Properties' Safe Halloween.

If you're a dog lover you won't want to miss this! Dartmouth brewery Spindrift Brewing Co. is hosting the cutest Halloween event for dogs and their owners to celebrate Halloween together! Enjoy a beer, get a photo of your pup at the Halloween photo booth, enter the dog costume contest and shop local pet supply vendors!
Alderney Landing's Bluenose Ghosts Festival
October 20th-31st, 6:30pm-9:30pm | Alderney Landing | $5-$15
From a haunted mansion to simulated casket rides to spiritual readings, if Alderney Landing's Bluenose Ghosts Festival is Downtown Dartmouth's Halloween Hotspot. Tour their infamously scary haunted house, try their family-friendly escape room, get buried alive on the Creighton Crypt Ride, or raise your spiritual awareness with one of their mediums! Tickets for each attraction will be sold on site.

Local Trunk-Or-Treat Events
Trunk-or-Treat events are such a fun and safe way for kids to celebrate Halloween and collect candy. It's daylight, there's a lot less ground to cover, and it's a lot easier to keep you eye on your little gouls as they zoom from trunk to trunk. Here are the Trunk-or-Treat events going on around HRM this year:
Clayton Park/rockingham | October 29th 2pm-4pm
Head to Tremont Plateau Park at 57 Eliza Ritchie Crescent with your little ones between 2pm and 4pm on October 29th for the first annual Trunk-or-Treat!
Downtown Dartmouth | October 29th 2pm-4pm
Life Branch Church at 10 Lancaster Drive in Downtown Dartmouth is throwing their Trunk-or-Treat on October 29th from 2pm-4pm. Even more Halloween fun - there'll also be games, apple cider and a photo booth!
Cole Harbour | October 29th 2pm-4pm
Hillside Wesleyan Church's 5th Annual Trunk-or-Treat starts out with free popcorn and cotton candy before the kids can head around to the Halloween trunks for more treats! The event will take place on October 29th from 2pm-4pm at 80 Chameau Crescent in Forest Hills.
Eastern passage/cow bay/shearwater | October 29th 3pm
The 4th Annual Eastern Passage/Cow Bay/Shearwater Trunk-or-Treat will be held at Island View High School on Saturday, October 29th beginning at 3pm. Registration is required for both trunkers and treaters!
St. margarets bay/tantallon/hammonds plains | October 29th 6pm-7pm
St. Luke's United Church is hosting their 2nd Annual Trunk-or-Treat on October 29th from 6pm to 7pm.
Dartmouth | October 31st 5:30-6:30pm
Enjoy carnival-type games and a hotdog supper at Stevens Road United Baptist Church's Trunk or Treat! The event will take place between 5:30 and 6:30 on Halloween, so you and your little ones can continue the trick-or-treating in the community right afterwards if you choose!
Free Chocolate Bars on Citadel Hill
Monday, October 31st 5pm-6pm | Citadel Hill clock tower | Free
Free candy on Halloween's not just for kids! Altruistic Current is at it again with another altruistic project for the community - and it's pretty sweet! They'll be giving out full sized chocolate bars from 5-6pm on Halloween by the clock tower on Citadel Hill.
