Canada Day 2022: What's Going On In Halifax Regional Municipality

This year's Canada Day is a significant one. Not only is it the first time in two years communities will be able to gather on July 1st, but it's the first time Halifax Regional Municipality has planned their annual Canada Day programming in partnership with the Mi'Kmaw Native Friendship Centre. This collaboration has produced a more inclusive event, honouring the culture and traditions of the Indigenous Peoples, the first people to take care of the land we now call Canada.

This year there are so many great concerts, family-friendly events, and experiences planned for the Canada Day long weekend. Keep reading so you don't miss a thing!

NS Heritage Day

As we prepare to celebrate Heritage Day in Nova Scotia, here is an overview of a great way to spend the day courtesy of our Client Care Coordinator, Lyndsay, mother to five kids.

The third Monday of February each year brings us our Provincial Heritage Day. This is a day for bringing people together to honour the remarkable people, events and places in Nova Scotia’s History. This year’s theme for Heritage Day is to honour our beloved Canadian Folk Artist, Maud Lewis; Maud was born and raised in Nova Scotia and lived here throughout her life until her passing in July of 1970.
